21-21 Design Site – Roppongi, Tokyo

Found this magnificent building by happy accident while trying to find some other place. Designed by the brilliant Tadao Ando of whom I had always been a fan of when looking in architectural journals.

As you approach it appears to be like a piece of concrete origami, really breathtaking…

It houses 21_21 Design Sight – a gallery. Most of the space is hidden below ground, from street level it is deceptively small.

The exhibition on show was as fabulous as the architecture that housed it. Saw some great stuff – prints by David Lynch, photos by Jean-Paul Goude and and and… Wow.

My pics do not in any way do this space justice Рit really was a completely engaging experience moving through this marvellous space.  Kudos to Ando-san!
